What is MaiaLearning?

The story behind how our company started

After his daughter’s college application experience, CEO Satish Mirle had the goal of creating a different kind of career and college planning platform. He wanted to create a modern, engaging experience and provide the best service. So, in 2010, he and his co-founder created MaiaLearning, Inc.

“I knew there had to be a better option. I wanted to provide students, counselors and families with the best tools. So, I created MaiaLearning.”

Satish shared his vision with advisors and his co-founder. He then consulted with students, counselors, and colleges to start designing around their needs. This value still guides us at MaiaLearning. We believe that our schools know what they need, and we listen to them.

The company was growing rapidly and in 2016 the State of California was looking for a customized college and career readiness solution that could handle millions of students. After a rigorous evaluation, they selected MaiaLearning, Inc. The implementation went live in 2017 and over the years we added features such as computing A-G eligibility and integration into the California State application system. We are now deeply involved in the state’s Cradle to Career Statewide initiative.

In 2018 the most established college planning platform made the sudden and unexpected announcement that only schools in North America could use their planning tools. This set the stage for incredible growth and momentum in the international market. MaiaLearning is now used in schools across 70 countries. That same year, we became one of the first new companies to integrate with the Common App. We joined Privacy Shield to protect international users’ data, and partnered with Parchment, the leading document-sending company. Today we securely send millions of student application documents from all over the world.

In 2020, we also released two large technology upgrades including a new look user interface. MaiaLearning also acquired GuidedPath, a platform used by Independent Educational Consultants.
